9:30 – 10:00 Benjamin Teddlie Presentation on the responsibilities of the State Energy
Conservation Office, SECO

Benjamin is a Contract Manager at the State Energy Conservation Office. He co-manages the LoanSTAR Revolving Loan Program and is preparing to launch SECO's administration of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act: Energy Efficiency Revolving Loan Fund Program. Benjamin joined SECO after graduating from Rice University in 2024, earning degrees in Mathematics and Economics.

Ira Nicodemus - President & Team Lead
Ira is the Founder of Holistic Utility Solutions and serves as the President. With 16+ years of experience in energy management and solar, he brings a wide range of industry expertise and experience. He will function as the Team Lead and POC. Ira oversaw Energy & Sustainability for 1,400+ Bank of America facilities (25M+ sq.ft.) for CBRE from 2013-2019 and has implemented hundreds of energy and sustainability projects. He holds a BS in Engineering & Management (Clarkson University), MBA (University of North Texas), is a Certified Energy Manager (AEE), and a NABCEP PV Associate.

Abby Massey is the Vice President of Energy Incentives at TaxTaker, a specialty tax incentives consulting firm headquartered in Austin, TX. Abby has her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Purdue
University and is a Professional Engineer licensed in 47 states. As a LEED Accredited Professional, Abby is dedicated to sustainable building practices. Prior to tax consulting, Abby spent almost a decade specializing in commercial building design. Her experience now includes optimizing energy incentives for clients by leveraging her in-depth understanding of the Inflation Reduction Act and programs centered around real estate, energy efficiency, and the built environment.

With a career spanning retail power sales and Demand Response, Catherine Stack brings a well-rounded perspective to the energy industry. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, her foundation was built in Houston, selling retail electricity at Champion Energy and Calpine Solutions. For the last 3+ years, she has worked at Voltus, specializing in creating financial incentives for large commercial and industrial clients to reduce energy use when the grid needs it most, mitigating the impact of high prices and emissions. Since joining Voltus, Catherine has delivered over $7M in ERCOT incentives. Catherine is currently based in Dallas, TX.

As Vice President of Emerging Markets at Lion Energy, Tom Tolman leads the company's energy storage systems sales team as it introduces energy storage systems to the commercial, industrial and utility sectors. In addition, he works with energy storage companies to solve their battery modularizing, Racking and PCS needs. He also analyzes power data and power bills to calculate system ROI. Tolman was previously the Director of Engineering at TNT Labs and Project Development Engineer at Novatek. Tolman earned his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University.

12:30 – 1:30 Keynote Address Dr. Paul Krueger, University of North Texas, Dean, College of
Engineering and Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Professional Title: Dean, College of Engineering and Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Professional Bio: As the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Paul Krueger oversees five academic departments: Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. He is a recipient of the Rolf D. Buhler Memorial Award in Aeronautics, the Richard Bruce Chapman Memorial Award for distinguished research in hydrodynamics, the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers North Texas Section Young Engineer of the Year Award and the Ford Senior Research Fellowship. Dr. Krueger earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and his master’s degree and Ph.D. in aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology.

2:30 – 3:00 Dr. Hassan Qandil University of North Texas, Clinical Associate Professor

Dr. Hassan Qandil is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE – Texas) and Certified Energy Manager (CEM) with over 15 years of international experience in engineering, research, and education. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Energy Engineering from the University of North Texas (UNT), where he now serves as a Clinical Associate Professor. In addition, he is a Project Manager with the Clean Energy Group at NV5, leading initiatives in renewable energy, HVAC design, and advanced energy efficiency solutions. His research portfolio includes major grants focused on electric vehicle (EV) integration in mobility and smart grids. At UNT, he advises the student chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and has been recognized with the Early Career Award for Contributions to International Education in 2025. Beyond campus, he serves as President of the Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects (AAAEA) – North Texas Chapter. Dr. Qandil’s impact has been acknowledged through multiple awards, including AAAEA’s Engineer of the Year (2022) and the Energy Innovator of the Year – Midwest Region (2024) by AEE.

Lucas Wilhoyt: Lucas is a senior at the University of North Texas, majoring in Mechanical and Energy Engineering. Lucas is currently the student chapter President of AEE at UNT.
Gabriel Ramlall: Gabriel is a Mechanical and energy engineering senior student. He is Vice President of UNT AEE.
Max Thomas: Landon "Max" Thomas is a Mechanical and Energy Engineering senior. He is currently Vice President of the UNT chapter of American Society of mechanical Engineers.
